THE ARABESQUE
The arabesque is a decorative motif that uses floral and leaf patterns to dematerialize figures. In this ornamentation, leaves lose their natural reference and merge with stems, creating unnatural elements that are assembled and disassembled according to the space’s decorative needs. Originating from Iran in the 8th century AD, the stylisation of forms, the appreciation for symmetry, and the heraldic, mirror-like scheme are hallmarks of the arabesque.
