THE EMPEDOCLE LIBRARY
Established in 1988, the library houses approximately 15,000 printed texts, audio-visual materials, and periodicals.
It features numerous texts related to Gibellina and its rebirth, along with the cultural production of the entire Mediterranean basin. The collection includes volumes on decorative arts, catalogues on visual arts, theatre, poetry, and photography. Additionally, the library archives publications and diverse materials related to over 40 years of the Orestiadi’s activities.
The reading room, designed by Nanda Vigo (1936-2020), features her work Basic Line on the ceiling since 2004. Made of plexiglass and neon, it is inspired by basic signs that have survived in ancient cultures of India and Africa.
